Best in Show :: Sporting

1966 Shelby “Narrow Hip” Cobra

Owner: Michael Rogers

Capturing Best in Show – Sporting was the extraordinary 1966 Shelby 427 Narrow Hip Cobra, chassis CSX-3131—one of the rarest surviving examples of one of America’s most iconic sports cars. Built during the legendary 427 Cobra era, CSX-3131 is one of only 32 Narrow Hip Cobra variants produced in 1966. Even more remarkably, only 10 examples remain today retaining their original body configuration along with their original engine and drivetrain, placing this vehicle among the most authentic and historically significant Cobra 427s in existence. Its concours credentials are equally impressive. CSX-3131 appeared at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2025, competing among six of the finest Cobra 427 examples in the world and earning an impressive 4th place finish. Continuing its award-winning momentum into 2026, the car also secured Best in Class honors at the 2026 Hilton Head Concours. With its combination of rarity, originality, preservation, and international concours recognition, CSX-3131 stood as a fitting recipient of Sandhills Motoring Expo’s highest Sporting distinction.

Best in Show :: Touring

1931 Cadillac 370A

Owner: Stephen Witort

Receiving Best in Show – Touring was the stunning Black and Nut Yellow 1931 Cadillac 370A V12 Roadster, an elegant expression of pre-war American luxury and craftsmanship. One of only 91 Roadsters produced in 1931, this automobile represents the final year Cadillac offered a production fully open car, making it a landmark vehicle in Cadillac history. This exceptional example is equipped with nearly every available factory accessory offered in Cadillac’s 1931 catalog, including Pilot Ray driving lights, wind wings, a factory spotlight, and the highly desirable Cadillac low-boy trunk—an accessory exclusive to Phaeton and Roadster models. The model itself also carries historic significance beyond the concours field. The 1931 Cadillac V-12 Roadster was selected as the official pace car for the Indianapolis 500, symbolizing prestige and innovation during the golden age of American motoring. Adding to its celebrated history, this particular vehicle earned Best in Class honors during the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Indianapolis 500 in 2011, further cementing its place among America’s premier collector automobiles.
