Artisan Award

The Artisan Award is given to the most significant, artistic automobile that is represented during the Saturday Artisan Tour. The Award is custom crafted by Ben Owen.

Chairman’s Award

2025 Chairman: John Strickland

Each year, the Sandhills Motoring Expo honors a person who has provided their support, efforts, and enthusiasm, designating them as Chairman of the Concours. The Chairman in turn, honors a significant car and owner on the show field by talking with select owners, discussing their car and background.

Commissioner’s Award

The Commissioner’s Award is awarded by the Expo Commissioner to the an outstanding vehicle and owner on the show field. The criteria includes the pedigree of the car, its impact on automotive history, how well it has been maintained, and how much the owner enjoys it.

Grand Marshall’s Award

2025 Grand Marshall: Brad Phillips

Presented to a truly stunning automobile that captures the spirit, elegance, and passion of the Sandhills Motoring Expo. Hand-selected by our Grand Marshall, this award honors a vehicle that stands out on the show field for its exceptional presence and unforgettable character.

Hagerty Youth Award

The Hagerty Youth Award is awarded by our Hagerty Youth Judges. The Youth Judging Program invites children to step into the role of judges as they assess a select group of five, hand picked cars at the Concours in the Village. Guided by experts from Hagerty, youth judges have the opportunity to interact with car owners, inspect the magnificent machines up close, and ultimately select their favorites based on predetermined criteria.

Knollwood Award

The Knollwood Award is awarded to the most popular car at our Saturday morning Airplanes & Automobiles event. This cars and coffee style event is held at the Moore County Airport, which was originally called Knollwood Airport and has historical significance.

Mayor’s Award

Village of Pinehurst Mayor, Patrick Pizzella

The Mayor’s Award is a time honored tradition where the Expo Chief Judge invites the Village of Pinehurst Mayor to select their favorite vehicle from the show field. This provides the Mayor the opportunity to meet with the car owners, discuss their vehicles, and of course see how well their car looks against the historic backdrop of the Village.

Most Significant American Car

The Most Significant American Car Award is awarded by the Concours Judges to an American made vehicle that encompasses and enshrines the essence of American automotive importance.

Most Significant European Car

The Most Significant European Car Award is awarded by the Concours Judges to an European made vehicle that encompasses and enshrines the essence of European automotive importance.

Road Rally Champion

The Road Rally Champion is the Rally team that scores highest during the Saturday Rally. The Rally takes entrants on a preset course through the Sandhills region and entrants must use their keen powers of direction and observation to answer questions and point out landmarks along the route.

Road Rally Runner-Up

The Road Rally Runner-Up is the Rally team that scores second highest during the Saturday Rally. The Rally takes entrants on a 70+ mile course through the Sandhills region and entrants must use their keen powers of direction and observation to answer questions and point out landmarks along the route.
